iCloud for Outlook Won't Sync Calendar to Classic Outlook

iCloud for Windows is unable to provision Outlook Contacts/Calendar, and when its Outlook add-in is active, Classic Outlook appointment forms display a Microsoft Forms error. The problem persists across profile recreation, Office repair, iCloud reinstall, and registry verification, and disappears immediately when the Apple add-in is disabled.

Hi MS,

I understand that iCloud Calendar and Contacts cannot be provisioned in classic Outlook, while enabling the iCloud Outlook add-in also prevents appointment forms from opening normally.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot inspect the iCloud add-in or your Outlook installation directly.

Since the appointment issue disappears as soon as the Apple add-in is disabled, the behavior points to a conflict involving that add-in. You have already completed the usual profile, Office, and iCloud repair steps, so I would not recommend repeating them or making further registry changes yet.

Please provide the following details:

  1. The complete message shown when opening or creating an appointment. A screenshot is also helpful, with personal information hidden.
  2. Your Outlook version and build from File > Office Account > About Outlook.
  3. Your iCloud for Windows version from Settings > Apps > Installed apps > iCloud.
  4. Whether Office was installed from Microsoft 365/Office.com or through the Microsoft Store.

Also confirm that Automatically sync your iCloud calendars and contacts to Microsoft Outlook is enabled in iCloud for Windows. Apple documents this setup and additional checks here: Set up iCloud Calendars and Contacts in Outlook and If you cannot add iCloud Mail, Contacts, or Calendars to Outlook.

Because the affected component is supplied with iCloud for Windows, if both applications are current and the same message remains, the add-in details and exact message should be reported to Apple Support for further review.

I hope these details help narrow down the conflict without repeating the troubleshooting you have already completed.

Here is how i got it working:

This error occurs because a Microsoft security update blocks modern Outlook from loading custom "Form Regions" (custom user interfaces) that rely on legacy code or ActiveX controls. The iCloud for Windows add-in injects its own custom form region into your calendar window. Because Outlook flags it as unsafe, it triggers this warning modal and blocks the form components. [1, 2]

The cleanest and safest way to fix this is to disable the custom Apple form layout in the Windows Registry. This forces Outlook to use its native, secure standard layout while keeping your iCloud calendar background data syncing perfectly. [1]

Option 1: Hide the iCloud Form Region (Recommended)

This method is widely preferred because it avoids lowering your overall Microsoft Office security settings. [1]

    1. Close Outlook completely. []
    2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor. [1, 2]
    3. In the left navigation sidebar, navigate to the following path:

    text

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\FormRegions\IPM.Appointment

    Use code with caution.

    []

    1. Look inside that folder for a registry key or string value named Apple.DAV.Appointment. []
    2. Right-click Apple.DAV.Appointment, select Rename, and add an underscore to the front of it so it reads: _Apple.DAV.Appointment.
      • Note: If you are running 32-bit Office on 64-bit Windows, you may instead need to look in this directory path:
      text
         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\FormRegions\IPM.Appointment

Use code with caution. [, 2]
    3. Re-open Outlook and double-click your calendar event. The native appointment form will pop up instantly without errors. [, 2]
