Corrupted/orphaned group memberships

I have two unwanted Outlook.com groups showing in my account:

  • [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]
  • [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]

I did not join these groups. When I open either group, the Members page shows:

"Error! Unable to load members"

When I click Leave Group, the request fails with:

{"code":"InvalidId","message":"Invalid member id provided to remove member"}

This appears to be a corrupted/orphaned group membership. Please remove these group memberships from my Outlook.com account.

Hi JM

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I understand how frustrating it is to see groups you did not join and then be unable to leave them.

Since the Members page cannot load and the removal request returns an invalid member ID, this appears to require account-level investigation. Community members such as Moderators cannot access or modify Outlook.com account data.

Please open Outlook.com, select Help, describe the issue, then scroll to Still need help? and select Yes to contact Outlook.com support. Include the group names and the exact error message, but do not post personal account information publicly.

Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.
