How to fix error 0x800704cf in Minecraft launcher?

Hey there, Sam here.

Ive recently gotten a new PC, and tried buying minecraft on it. The payment went through everything was fine. Then when i started up the launcher, it told me i didnt have wifi, which i very much do. I cant seem to fix this even with guides on Youtube or the internet. Hope someone can help me on this.

Error 0x800704CF ("You'll need internet for this") usually means the Minecraft Launcher cannot connect to Microsoft/Xbox services even though your internet is working.

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure you can sign in to the Microsoft Store with the same Microsoft account that purchased Minecraft.
  2. Press Win + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter to reset the Microsoft Store cache.
  3. Open Command Prompt (Administrator) and run: netsh winsock reset ipconfig /flushdns Then restart your PC.
  4. Check for updates in Windows Update, the Microsoft Store, Xbox app, and Gaming Services.
  5. If you're using a VPN, proxy, or third-party firewall, temporarily disable it and test again. Network-related issues are a common cause of this error.

If the issue continues, does the Microsoft Store also show connection/sign-in errors, or is it only the Minecraft Launcher?
