Recently, the look of the body copy in my emails changed. Affects both outgoing and incoming emails. How can I change it back?

Hi Dwayne Dixon

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum and for sharing the steps you've already taken. I understand how unexpected changes in the appearance of your email text, whether in messages you send or receive, can be concerning. I’m here to help guide you through a few simple steps to bring things back to the way you prefer.

Please follow the instructions below. You can go through each step and check if it matches your situation:

1. Reset Your Default Font Settings in Outlook

This step helps ensure that all your new, reply, and forwarded emails use your preferred font and size.

  1. Open Outlook Desktop.
  2. Click on File in the top-left corner.
  3. Select Options.
  4. In the left panel, choose Mail.
  5. Click the Stationery and Fonts button.
  6. You’ll see three sections:
    • New mail messages
    • Replying or forwarding messages
    • Composing and reading plain text messages
  7. For each section:
    • Click Font.
    • Choose your preferred font (for example, Calibri or Arial) and size.
    • Click OK to confirm.
  8. After adjusting all three sections, click OK again to save and close the settings.  User's image

2. Check if Immersive Reader Is Turned On

Sometimes, the Immersive Reader feature may be active, which changes how emails are displayed.

To check:

  1. Open any email in Outlook.
  2. Go to the View tab at the top.
  3. If Immersive Reader is highlighted or active, click it to turn it off.

This will return your email view to the standard layoutUser's image

  1. Restart Outlook and Your Computer

Once you’ve made the changes above, please restart Outlook and your computer. This helps ensure that all settings are applied correctly.

If you’ve tried these steps and the issue continues, feel free to reply to this message. I’ll be happy to assist further or help escalate the case if needed.

Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Microsoft Q&A forum. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist you with. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
