Anybody has a solution for this problem? We have configured Hybrid Search between SharePoint 2019 and SPO.
Sharepoint hybrid federated search result block missing
Hi,
I have a problem with a hybrid environment. I would like to display onpremise search results in a SharePoint hybrid federated search.
The result sources are configured accordingly and testing them in the SPO Admin center is successful.
I configured everything according https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/hybrid/configure-hybrid-federated-search-sharepoint-serverroadmap and https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/hybrid/display-hybrid-federated-search-results-in-sharepoint-server
The problem I'm faced with is, that the search in the SPO search center doesn't display the result block that I configured in the query rule.
Only results from SPO are displayed. When I change the search result's webpart result source to the onpremise result source, only the onpremise results are displayed (but not in a result block)
How can I get this work with results from both onpremise and online environments?

Only one source can be set in the search result source settings. This is also the situation you encounter. Either you can only choose the content in the online environment, or you can only choose on-premise.
It is a by-design behavior, and the use of custom query rules in hybrid search has certain restrictions.
What I can advise you is not to use a custom query rule. If you only want to display search results from on-premises, you can use the "isexternalcontent:1" property.
For example:
This returns only on-premises results.
Thank you for your understanding.
