Hello all,
Hope you're doing great !

I've been facing the following problem :

A user signs in to Microsoft Outlook desktop after a fresh OS install.
Outlook starts downloading the mailbox (about 3.94GB) and it gets stuck at 1Ko before restarting the whole download. this goes on and on.

I've tried the following :

  • Repair Ms Office
  • Uninstall and reinstall Ms Office
  • delete the user profile
Outlook Management

    Hi anonymous user,

Before going further, could you please collect the build number of your Outlook via File > Office Account > About Outlook? Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.

Outlook starts downloading the mailbox (about 3.94GB) and it gets stuck at 1Ko before restarting the whole download. this goes on and on.

In order to have a better known of your issue, I need some more information about your issue for researches:
Does this issue only happen to specific email account on this specific Outlook desktop client? Can this email account work fine if you add it to Outlook client on other devices?
And what's the type of your account? POP, IMAP or Exchange?

If you are using Exchange email account, I would suggest you to try running your email account with Online Exchange mode(uncheck the Cached Exchange Mode like below and restart your Outlook client) and see if your email account could work fine.

If the email account can work fine with Online Exchange mode but have issues with Cached Exchange Mode, we might could infer that the key of your issue might be related to your Outlook data files.

So, in order to exclude the influence of data files on the problem, it is suggested for you to exit your Outlook client and rename the data file of your email account then restart your Outlook to see if the issue would has any difference. You could fine your data file location via File > Account settings > Account settings > Select Data file Tab > Choose your email account > Select "Open File Location".

By the way, antivirus software and other third-party programs might also influence this issue. So, please try exiting your antivirus software and other third-party programs to test and make sure Outlook has the proper permission to create and modify its data files.

Any update, please feel free to post back.
