Hi Sirs,

We have one mail server zimbra, and want to migrate some users from Zimbra to o365.
We could migrate for example 10 users from zimbra to o365 (by imap migration, csv etc) assigned licenses.
As far as I know in order they (migrated users) could work on o365 completely we have configure dns settings on domain which we selected as default EAC. If we add the records which are required, the zimbra wouldn't start work properly. But we want to keep both servers as online. What should we do in further in order both servers could send email to each other (send\receive from\to internal\external emails)
If sender (doesn't matter if he external or user zimbra) send an email to the user o365, email anyway comes to zimbra server.
Hope I could explain the situation.

Thank you!

    Hi @Dias DT

That's the expected behavior you described above. If you point the MX record to O365, this helps ensure that email is delivered to your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 mailboxes. Moving the MX record will also let you turn off your old email system when you are ready.

So if you want to keep both mail servers and want them able to send mails to each other, keep the MX record to your source server and for the users migrated to o365 already, sending mails to them by using .onmicrosoft.com addresses

For more information: Why do I have an "onmicrosoft.com" domain?

I have the task of migrating EVERYTHING from the boxes.
Messages, calendars (all), contacts, groups etc.
I can't work with IMAP ONLY.
Has anyone managed to migrate the other objects?

The following mentioned below are manual steps please do follow correctly.

    • On the first page, you need to click Add button to add IMAP files for migration.
    • In the next step, select your email client and enter the credentials like Server Name, Email id, Password, and Port Number. Check the box Use SSL Connection, on the right-hand side, you will get the details of your account. Finally, click on Add to proceed.
    • Now, for the second step, you need to click on Add button under Step 2 to add Office 365 mailboxes.
    • Now add your mail details like email Id and Password, select Single/Archive Mailbox for single mailbox and List all Mailboxes using above credentials (Use Global Administrator login details) for multiple mailboxes from Office 365. Here we have opted for Single/Archive Mailbox.
    • At this stage, you will see both the source mailbox and the destination mailbox. Select the mailbox and map them and click on Set Filter and Migrate.
    • Now provide a destination in the mailbox and click on Migrate. There are three separate button named Mailbox, Archive Mailbox, and Public Folder. If you want to migrate the data to a single type of destination, then choose these buttons.
    • Now on the page of filter selection, apply the desired filters and click on I am Ok, Start Migration.
    • Wait till the process is completed and click on Ok after completion.
    • Once all steps are executed successfully, you will get a CSV report generated right after the completion.
