Azure Certified Device

Hello,

I am an avid user of Azure IoT Edge and Azure IoT Hub, and am currently using an Azure Certified device. We would like to change the device but cannot find an Azure Certified Device besides it. Upon checking what it means to be Azure Certified, it means that it can work with the DPS service (Device Provisioning Service), which just means to auto provision devices.

Let's say that I provision the devices manually, would I be able to pick a mini computer such as the raspberry pi or anything similar, install Azure IoT Edge on it and still get support from Microsoft without it being Azure Certified? This will expand the hardware pool i can pick from and I am fairly proficient in the Linux operating system and therefore can help those attempting to help me.

Thanks!

    Hello @Omar ,

thanks you for your question about Microsoft supported IoT Edge solutions.

Regarding Azure support tickets, I have only encountered questions from Microsoft regarding the tier 1 supported operating systems.

The OS versions seen there feel a bit deprecated, these are not the latest (LTS) versions anymore like Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

Also, EFLOW (Edge for Linux on Windows) is not documented there.

Especially Ubuntu 20.04 LTS support is recently announced.

Whether your device is certified or not, you can always submit question here or you can submit issues and feature requests at GitHub.
