Device199785-wordart-problem.gif - HP EliteBook 840 G7 Notebook PC
OS - Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, 10.0.19044.1645, 21H2
Current Office Version - Office 365 E3
Previous Office Version - Office 2010

Problem:
When the user clicks on WordArt it displays the WordArt for Office 2010 rather than 365. The dropdown shows the word WordArt in various shapes, sizes, and colors. It should just show the letter "A" in various formats. When the user inserts the Office 2010 looking WordArt it does not print properly.

What I Have Tried That Didn't Work:

  1. Rebooted machine.
  2. Ran sfc /scannow.
  3. Ran an Office repair.
  4. Uninstalled Office 365 and reinstalled Office 365.
  5. Logged onto the machine with my credentials and it worked fine. Someone else logged on and it worked fine. The problem only happens to this one user. For that reason, I have thought about recreating her profile. But I know that will break a lot of things. ODBC, Scanning, etc...
  6. Looked in the registry and found HKLC\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word. It has 2 items in it:
    a. (Default) REG_SZ (value not set).
    b. PrintersForSingleTile REG_MULTI_SZ (Adob).
That is the only reference to Office 2010 I can find in the registry. It had previously been removed from add\remove programs before Office 365 was installed. I am not sure what to do with this registry key.

What Can I do to fix WordArt? Thank you.

    Which file format is this?

Word would display the older type of WordArt for documents that are in Compatibility Mode, because they are saved in the older *.doc format.

StefanBlom-6438 - thanks for the reply! I think what the user has been doing is starting a new document and inserting WordArt and printing before she ever saves it. Perhaps I will have her save her doc as a DOCX first and then try to print it. I will let you know how that goes. Thanks for your time!

First, what is being shown is actually the Word 97-Word 2007 type of WordArt.

Long-term solution: update the user's Normal.dotm to the current version.

    1. Open the Normal.dotm template. Here's how: https://addbalance.com/word/normaltemplate.htm#Open
    2. Then File > Info and press the Convert button.
    3. Save and Exit Word.
