Microsoft Purview: How to move more than 25 Assets in a bulk operation

The Microsoft Purview Governance Portal appears to enable a bulk operation to move Assets from one Collection into another within the Data Map application. However, this also seems to be restricted to 25 Assets by the pagination used to display a list of Assets. Is there any way to move more than 25 Assets in one operation within the Governance Portal interface?

Details:
When I go to the Data Map and click on a Collection, I can click on the Assets box to see the "Assets in Collection" window. This window includes a "Move" button, shows 25 Assets at a time, and includes a button to go to the "Next" page to see 25 more Assets within the Collection. Each Asset has a check box where it can be selected for a move operation, and there is a checkbox at the top of the Asset list that enables selecting all 25 Assets displayed.

If I select all Assets on a page, and then click "Next" in order to select all the Assets on the next page. As soon as I click "Next" all previously selected Assets are deselected.

From a user interaction perspective, I've never interacted with a software that enables this kind of select all and go to next page workflow, and then automatically deselects a user selection when the user moves to the next page. As a user I expect the system to maintain the state of my selections. Moving across pages to select up to 25 Assets at a time is repetitive, but makes sense. However, needing to re-open this window to perform a select and move operation over each set of 25 Assets on a page because the pagination deletes past actions is unexpected and frustrating.

    Hello @Anna Dabrowski ,

Thanks for your patience. Below are the updates from respective product team with respect to your query.

    1. When selecting more than 25 assets, moving to the next page deselects all previously selected assets. That’s a bug or at least a UX issue and product team are investigating on it. Will follow-up with respective owners to track this item and will update here once it is resolved.
    2. Feature request/enhancement: A user should ideally be able to “select all” assets across several pages instead of individually clicking through each page. - This team has acknowledged this feedback and further reviewing it. I would also encourage you to please log feature request feedback in IDEAS forum here - https://feedback.azure.com/d365community/forum/82d7bddb-fb24-ec11-b6e6-000d3a4f07b8. And please do share the link once the feedback is logged as it would help other with similar idea to up-vote and comment on it.

Item 2 is a high priority item that’s somewhat related to other work that product team is doing to support bulk import and export of data map assets and is currently being investigated by the engineers. Product team is eagerly working to support this functionality, but unfortunately don’t have an ETA for it as it is still in analysis phase.

In the meantime, we recommend subscribing to to Azure Updates page to get latest updates related to new Azure Products or Product updates: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/

Hope this will info help. Please let us know if any further queries.
