Optional configuration for Copilot guidance for Sensitive and Regulated customers

The Microsoft 365 Copilot configuration and planning guide is intended for sensitive and regulated customers in Australia and New Zealand sensitive. This guide aligns with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Blueprint for Secure Cloud configuration guidance for Microsoft 365.

This article refers to optional elements to draw attention to other features or configuration choices that aren't specific to Copilot. These capabilities help improve the user experience or increase the overall security and compliance posture of the environment.

Microsoft Edge browser

Users can access Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in the Microsoft Edge sidebar. Users signed in with a Microsoft Entra account receive enterprise data protection. To learn more about managing Copilot Chat in Microsoft Edge, see Copilot Chat in Microsoft Edge.

Windows desktop

Microsoft Copilot is integrated into the Windows desktop to provide a wide range of Copilot experiences directly from the desktop.

To learn more, review the updated Windows and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat experience information. The availability of Copilot in Windows is managed by the TurnOffWindowsCopilot policy. The user experience depends on the user licensing applied to the authenticated user. Microsoft suggests that the Microsoft 365 Copilot Windows application be made available for easy access to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat.

Copilot mobile apps

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is available in the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app when eligible users sign in with their Microsoft Entra accounts. Users get the same data security, privacy, and compliance standards and Copilot Chat features directly within the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

To manage Copilot Chat in the Microsoft 365 (Office) app, admins can use the Microsoft Intune policy, group policy, or the Microsoft 365 admin center. For more information, see Manage Microsoft 365 (Office) for iOS and Android with Intune.

We recommend organizations enable Copilot integrations in with mobile apps.

Web-based Copilot experiences

Users can access Copilot Chat from:

  • Web: m365copilot.com

    • If the user or admin pins Copilot Chat in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, users are redirected to m365.cloud.microsoft/chat. If not, they're redirected to copilot.cloud.microsoft. For more information, see how to pin Copilot Chat.
  • App: Microsoft 365 Copilot app (formerly the Microsoft 365 app), Teams, and Outlook.

    • Available for web, desktop, iOS, and Android.
    • Users or admins must pin Copilot Chat in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, Teams, and Outlook to access it. For more information, see how to pin Copilot Chat.
  • Browser: Copilot in Microsoft Edge (web browser only).
