Extending MSN desktop search

MSN desktop search leverages existing Windows content indexing technologies. In particular, developers can add support for cracking metadata and content from other file types through the IFilter COM interface (MSDN documentation here). There are many existing IFilters out there. A wiki on Channel 9 helps track known IFilters which you can use to allow you search other types of files.
