OneNote Mobile for iPhone - RE: "Login failed, error: 400" Error

First of all thank you very much for your interest in OneNote Mobile for the iPhone, there has been a tremendous response thus far.

We have received reports from customers who are hitting an error on initial login, with the following message: "Login failed, error: 400".

pic_fix

The team has been investigating the issue and believe we have identified the cause. We are working on an update. However the underlying cause is an intermittent issue, due to overwhelming interest in the app. The workaround is to keep trying to sign in, once you get past this error then OneNote will sync without any problem.

Thank you for your patience and interest in OneNote, we all apologize for the inconvenience.

I sure hope so. I've been trying to get this to work for an hour. No luck. I hope Apple approves the update ASAP.

PLEASE don't require iOS 4.2 ...does 4.1 really not work? There are TONS of us who would to use this app, but we're not on version 4.2 yet.

Is this a US-only release? I cannot find it in the AppStore.

Ya, I can't upgrade to 4.2 yet... is there really valid reason to restrict it to 4.2 ?

any way to "check off" only specific notebooks to sync with iPhone? no use wasting device space with notebooks that can't display properly (i.e., with tables, ink, etc) on the mobile device

I downloaded this App to my iPad and after it finished the installation i tried to run it. But it won't start. It starts to load and then return to the springboard. Is this App iPad compatible?

I think the avalanche of interest in this app is proof that you need to push out more Office Apps for the iPhone and Android for that matter.

Receiving the same error here, have confidence you'll get it fixed and looking forward to giving an operational app a shot. The bigger question if it requires an app update... how long before Apple approves that? ;)

Hi - I was able to log in successfully, but then I get the following error when trying to "sync now" via settings: "Loading list of notebooks failed. (405)"  I have an iPhone with the latest software and I am using OneNote 2010.  Thanks for your help.

@ descapa Why no other markets? Even Canada falls under the standard office license. I can see small developers doing this, but te product you tie into works here so why notake te app available? It's only a region checkbox, nothing huge an logistical.. Back to evernote I go...

There's nothing more frustrating than downloading an app and then having it not work right off the bat.  I've been trying over and over to get this to work and I keep getting error 400 and 500.  If I'm getting error 500, I wonder what the other 499 errors are for. If I can't get it to work shortly, I'm going to delete the app and forget I ever had it.

Had to try to login about 25 times, then it fails to sync notebooks.  How can you not make sure the product works before launching.  Typical Microsoft.

Epic Fail, Microsoft. Did it occur to anyone to test this product before releasing it?

Keep trying?  You guys are smarter than that.  Or maybe not.  Life is too short.  Fix it.  It NEVER should have been released.  You all should be MORTIFIED at this abysmal failure

After 2 years of waiting I'm so excited that OneNote has been released on the iPhone... but I've since moved on to Android. Any updates on an Android version of OneNote? (I'm sure you've all seen the numbers on Android vs iPhone users: mashable.com/.../iphone-android-nielsen)

Some comments on the OneNote app (besides the obvious -400 and -500 errors):

  1. I have a notebook over 80megs in size on the skydrive, the syncing started over 3G and while there was a button to interrupt the sync i did not know if i should've. This ate up battery life in huge chunks. Basically it would be nice if some kind of time/size estimate was provided PRIOR to initiating sync.
  2. Even after the sync was done, it takes an extremely long time to sync a single page (just text) over 3G. Not sure if it's my connection, the algorithm to validate what needs to be synced or the MSFT servers.

Please remove the online requirement from the app. A mobile productivity app that req online to run isn't very productive. We don't always have wifi or cellular signal everywhere we use the iPhone. Also, I don't fully believe the claim that apple req limiting to 4.2 seeing as I never had to update for any of the other new apps I bought until your app. Yours was the only one, including a couple other brand new apps from the very same day.

If you're on 4.1 and want the app, and you're jailbroken you can add the following source in Cydia:  ihackstore.com/repo From there you can download Firmware 4.2.1 fake, which will allow you to download most apps requiring 4.2.1 (I haven't found any that don't work...I downloaded OneNote just now :)

Pathetic excuse, how can you say it's so popular that's the reason and also a update to fix the problem is coming. error 400 has a specific meaning and server busy is not it. Are these the same programmers that coded Vista?

If I could interject something;  I love MS products and I'm definitely a 'Softie... but please - it's the 21st century.  Get rid of numbered error messages!  They are completely out-of-date, and totally destroy the user experience.  Say something meaningful...!

I would love to see OneNote for the Android Platform.  I love OneNote and it's only gotten better with each iteration. But I don't have an iPhone and don't see myself getting one for at least another two years (hmm - why would that be... <G>).

I used Thom_D earlier suggestion of trying to rapidly log in, and after a few tries it worked! Prior to this I had powered off my Touch, based on another suggestion. Dunno if the power off was necessary, but I'm finally in. But my dilemma: I use a Touch, not an iPhone. I don't always have internet connectivity. It occurred to me that I might not be able to get to my OneNote files if I'm not online. If that's the case, it's truly a bummer and the app is useless to me.

Now that I can login, finally, I get the notebook syncing error, "Loading list of notebooks failed. (501)"  Manually trying to sync, I get error codes 400, 401, 500 and 501 randomly. The whole notion of "after you login it will work" is simply not true.

The app worked great on my iPhone for a few days - just long enough to get me to migrate all my notebooks over from Evernote.  Now I'm getting the 405 "can't sync" error.   It's a real shame, as I prefer the OneNote organizing system to Evernote, but if I can't use it from my phone, it's pretty much useless to me.

really?  I have been reading these posts thinking these are current, but much to my surprise, they are 2 years old, and you still have not fixed the problem!!!!  I get the "We were unable to sign you in There is a problem with your Microsoft account. To fix this, sign in to account.live.com from a browser."  BUT there is nothing wrong with my account, just your app!  unbelievable!
