Installing MWS SDK in Visual Studio 2005

The MWS 4.0 SDK doesn't appear in the VS 2005 table of contents since the SDK was written for VS 2003. Here's how to fix it:

  1. Open the VS2005 Help system, and go to the following topic:
    ms-help://MS.VSCC.v80/dv_vscccommon/local/CollectionManager.htm
  2. At the bottom of this page, select "Collection Definition". For some people, this link shows up as "MapPointWebServiceSDK40 Collection".
  3. Click the Update VSCC button.
  4. When prompted, close VS2005 and the Help system, and then open VS2005 again. The Help system will update, and the SDK appears in the Table of Contents.

You should install the new version of the MWS SDK 4.1. It is compatible with VS 2005 without any funky workarounds.
