LayoutInflater Class

Definition

Instantiates a layout XML file into its corresponding android.view.View objects.

[Android.Runtime.Register("android/view/LayoutInflater", DoNotGenerateAcw=true)]
public abstract class LayoutInflater : Java.Lang.Object
[<Android.Runtime.Register("android/view/LayoutInflater", DoNotGenerateAcw=true)>]
type LayoutInflater = class
    inherit Object
Inheritance
LayoutInflater
Attributes

Remarks

Instantiates a layout XML file into its corresponding android.view.View objects. It is never used directly. Instead, use android.app.Activity#getLayoutInflater() or Context#getSystemService to retrieve a standard LayoutInflater instance that is already hooked up to the current context and correctly configured for the device you are running on.

To create a new LayoutInflater with an additional Factory for your own views, you can use #cloneInContext to clone an existing ViewFactory, and then call #setFactory on it to include your Factory.

For performance reasons, view inflation relies heavily on pre-processing of XML files that is done at build time. Therefore, it is not currently possible to use LayoutInflater with an XmlPullParser over a plain XML file at runtime; it only works with an XmlPullParser returned from a compiled resource (R.<em>something</em> file.)

<strong>Note:</strong> This class is <strong>not</strong> thread-safe and a given instance should only be accessed by a single thread.

Constructors

LayoutInflater(Context)

Create a new LayoutInflater instance associated with a particular Context.

LayoutInflater(IntPtr, JniHandleOwnership)

A constructor used when creating managed representations of JNI objects; called by the runtime.

LayoutInflater(LayoutInflater, Context)

Create a new LayoutInflater instance that is a copy of an existing LayoutInflater, optionally with its Context changed.

Properties

Class

Returns the runtime class of this Object.

(Inherited from Object)
Context

Return the context we are running in, for access to resources, class loader, etc.

Factory

Return the current Factory (or null). -or- Attach a custom Factory interface for creating views while using this LayoutInflater.

Factory2

Return the current Factory2. -or- Like #setFactory, but allows you to set a Factory2 interface.

Filter

Sets the Filter to by this LayoutInflater.

Handle

The handle to the underlying Android instance.

(Inherited from Object)
JniIdentityHashCode (Inherited from Object)
JniPeerMembers
PeerReference (Inherited from Object)
ThresholdClass

This API supports the Mono for Android infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code.

ThresholdType

This API supports the Mono for Android infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code.

Methods

Clone()

Creates and returns a copy of this object.

(Inherited from Object)
CloneInContext(Context)

Create a copy of the existing LayoutInflater object, with the copy pointing to a different Context than the original.

CreateView(Context, String, String, IAttributeSet)

Low-level function for instantiating a view by name.

CreateView(String, String, IAttributeSet)

Low-level function for instantiating a view by name.

Dispose() (Inherited from Object)
Dispose(Boolean) (Inherited from Object)
Equals(Object)

Indicates whether some other object is "equal to" this one.

(Inherited from Object)
From(Context)

Obtains the LayoutInflater from the given context.

FromContext(Context)
GetHashCode()

Returns a hash code value for the object.

(Inherited from Object)
Inflate(Int32, ViewGroup, Boolean)

Inflate a new view hierarchy from the specified xml resource.

Inflate(Int32, ViewGroup)

Inflate a new view hierarchy from the specified xml resource.

Inflate(XmlReader, ViewGroup, Boolean)

Inflate a new view hierarchy from the specified XML node.

Inflate(XmlReader, ViewGroup)

Inflate a new view hierarchy from the specified xml node.

JavaFinalize()

Called by the garbage collector on an object when garbage collection determines that there are no more references to the object.

(Inherited from Object)
Notify()

Wakes up a single thread that is waiting on this object's monitor.

(Inherited from Object)
NotifyAll()

Wakes up all threads that are waiting on this object's monitor.

(Inherited from Object)
OnCreateView(Context, View, String, IAttributeSet)

Version of #onCreateView(View, String, AttributeSet) that also takes the inflation context.

OnCreateView(String, IAttributeSet)

This routine is responsible for creating the correct subclass of View given the xml element name.

OnCreateView(View, String, IAttributeSet)

Version of #onCreateView(String, AttributeSet) that also takes the future parent of the view being constructed.

SetHandle(IntPtr, JniHandleOwnership)

Sets the Handle property.

(Inherited from Object)
ToArray<T>() (Inherited from Object)
ToString()

Returns a string representation of the object.

(Inherited from Object)
UnregisterFromRuntime() (Inherited from Object)
Wait()

Causes the current thread to wait until it is awakened, typically by being <em>notified</em> or <em>interrupted</em>.

(Inherited from Object)
Wait(Int64, Int32)

Causes the current thread to wait until it is awakened, typically by being <em>notified</em> or <em>interrupted</em>, or until a certain amount of real time has elapsed.

(Inherited from Object)
Wait(Int64)

Causes the current thread to wait until it is awakened, typically by being <em>notified</em> or <em>interrupted</em>, or until a certain amount of real time has elapsed.
