Advanced deployment options for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013
Applies To: Dynamics CRM 2013
This section describes advanced deployment options for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013.
Update Setup files by using a local package
The update Setup feature can indicate if you have the latest updates to Microsoft Dynamics CRM before you run Setup. With this feature, you can specify where Setup locates the MSP package that is applied to the Setup files. This gives you additional control over the update, and also lets you apply the update package locally without the need of an Internet connection.
To specify the location, you must edit the XML configuration file <Patch> element and then run Setup from the command prompt. For more information, see Use the command prompt to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.
Add or remove server roles
Use one of the following options to install server roles:
Run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server Setup Wizard to select one or more server role groups or one or more individual server roles. If Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 is already installed, you can use Programs and Features in Control Panel to add or remove server roles. For more information, see Microsoft Dynamics CRM server roles.
Configure an XML configuration file and then run Setup at the command prompt to specify a server role group or one or more individual server roles. For more information, see Install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013 roles using the command prompt.
Use Windows Powershell to perform deployment tasks
You can use Windows Powershell to perform many Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment tasks. For more information, see Administer the deployment using Windows PowerShell.
