How to: Work with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Transaction Currencies
If Microsoft Dynamics NAV is set up to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, then from a currency, you can access a corresponding transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Before you can view a Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency, you must set up a coupling between the Microsoft Dynamics NAV currency and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency. A coupling acts as a link between a record in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can choose to couple to an existing transaction currency or create and couple to a new one.
The coupling also enables you to synchronize the transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM currency with the currency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV so that data in fields that are mapped between the two is the same in both locations.
Note
You can only synchronize data from the currency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV to the transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM; not from Microsoft Dynamics CRM to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. For more information about integrating transaction currencies, see About Dynamics CRM Transaction Currency Integration.
To set up a coupling between a Microsoft Dynamics NAV currency and a Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency
Open the currency as follows:
In the Search box, enter Currencies, and then choose the related link.
Select the currency that you want to couple to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and then on the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.
On the Navigate tab, in the Dynamics CRM group, choose Coupling, and then choose Set Up Coupling.
In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Transaction Currency Coupling window, do one of the following tasks:
To couple to an existing transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, select the transaction currency in the Transaction Currency field.
To create and couple to a new transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, select the Transaction Currency check box.
The Coupled Records FastTab lists the some of the fields for the currency and the corresponding mapped fields for the selected Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency. The Dynamics NAV Currency column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the Dynamics CRM Transaction Currency column displays the current field values in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can use the information on the Coupled Records FastTab to help you determine which Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency to couple to and some of the data to be synchronized.
If you want to synchronize data in the transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM with the currency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, set the Synchronize After Coupling field to Yes- Use Dynamics NAV Data.
This will copy the data from the currency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV to mapped fields in the transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Note
Synchronization is required when you create a new transaction currency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Therefore, this option is selected by default and cannot be changed.
Choose the OK button.
Unless you want to change which Microsoft Dynamics CRM transaction currency that the Microsoft Dynamics NAV currency is coupled to, you only have to set up the coupling one time.
