How to Remove a Physical Disk Resource from a Clustered Mailbox Server

This topic describes how to delete physical disks from a clustered mailbox server's resource model.

Before You Begin

To perform the following procedure, the account you use must be delegated the following:

  • Exchange Server Administrator role and local Administrators group for the clustered mailbox server that is being modified.

For more information about permissions, delegating roles, and the rights that are required to administer Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, see Permission Considerations.

It is not necessary to run this task from the node hosting the clustered mailbox server.

Procedure

To use Cluster Administrator to remove a physical disk from a clustered mailbox server's resource model

  1. Open Cluster Administrator.

  2. Double-click the cluster name in the left pane.

  3. Double-click the Resources folder.

  4. In the right pane, right-click the physical disk to be deleted and select Properties.

  5. Select the Dependencies tab, click Modify, remove all dependencies, and then click OK twice.

  6. Right-click the physical disk you want to delete and select the Delete option. A confirmation dialog box will appear. Click Yes to confirm the delete operation.
