Lesson 2: Adding Fields and Entities to a Chart Report (Report Builder 1.0)

In this lesson, you will add fields and entities to a basic chart. Charts have three drop areas: Values, Series, and Categories. To see the tabs, select the chart.

To add fields and entities to a chart report layout

  1. In the Entities list, click Product.

  2. In the Fields list, drag Product Category to the Drag and drop category fields area of the chart.

  3. In the Entities list, click Sales.

  4. In the Fields list, drag the #Sales to the Drag and drop data value fields area of the chart.

  5. In the Entities list, select Sales Order.

  6. In the Fields list, expand the Ship Date field.

    Variations of the Ship Date field are displayed.

  7. From the Fields list, drag the Ship Year field to the Drag and drop series fields area of the chart.

You have successfully added fields to your chart. To see what the data looks like in the report, you will run the report next. See Lesson 3: Running a Chart Report (Report Builder 1.0).
