Creating an Integration Services Project
To create and work with Integration Services projects, you must install the Business Intelligence Development Studio environment. For more information, see Considerations for Installing Integration Services.
When you create a new Integration Services project in Business Intelligence Development Studio, the New Project dialog box offers you two options for creating a project:
Integration Services Project. This project template creates a new project that contains a single package. For more information, see Designing Packages in Business Intelligence Development Studio.
Integration Services Connections Project Wizard. This project template also creates a new project that contains a single package. However, this wizard helps you configure connections, data sources, and data destinations more easily. For more information, see Creating a Package by Running a Wizard.

Projects are stored in solutions. You can create a solution first and then add an Integration Services project to the solution. If no solution exists, Business Intelligence Development Studio automatically creates one for you when you first create the project. A solution can contain multiple projects of different types.
Note
By default, when you create a new Integration Services project in BI Development Studio, the solution is not shown in the Project Explorer pane. To change this default behavior, on the Tools menus, click Options. In the Options dialog box, expand Projects and Solutions, and then click General. On the General page, select Always show solution.
