Using your Outlook calendar

Calendar
Just as you track your schedule with a paper-based organizer, you can track your appointments, meetings, and events online by using Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2003. You can even choose to be reminded that you have an upcoming time commitment.
You can keep track of the following items in your calendar:
Appointments. Use appointments for events such as doctor appointments or trips to the health club. Appointments do not involve inviting other people or reserving resources. An appointment can be a one-time event or recurring.
Meetings. A meeting is an appointment to which other people are invited or for which resources are reserved. Your Outlook calendar enables you to more quickly schedule meetings with co-workers by showing you the schedules of a group of people or resources (such as conference rooms) simultaneously. Like appointments, meetings can be a one-time event or recurring.
To schedule a meeting, select a time on your calendar, create a meeting, and select people to invite. You can then see whether the people you invited are free or busy. The e-mail meeting request sent to the invitees notes whether the meeting conflicts with another commitment, and people can accept, tentatively accept, or decline your meeting. As the organizer, you can track who has accepted, declined, or proposed other times.
Events. An event is typically a larger block of time, such as a company party, concert, or vacation. You can use your Outlook calendar to track and set reminders for special occasions, such as birthdays or anniversaries, without displaying them on the network. Create an all-day appointment and set the time option as Free; the appointment is displayed at the top of your calendar. If you plan to take time off for an event, show your time as Out of the office.
