How do I get Explorer to show thumbnails for WebP files?

How do I get Windows Explorer to show thumbnails for WebP files? I have installed the WebP Image Extensions found in Microsoft Store, but that hasn't helped and the Edge icon is showing instead of the actual pictures in thumbnails.

Hi Shodan2k,

Sorry if that didn't work. I found a thread from another forum that suggests installing Icaros which supports webp as well. You can uninstall the codec I suggested earlier then install it instead. Before installing, I suggest you clear the thumbnail cache first using Disk Cleanup.

It didn't. Now the WebP files thumbnail is showing the icon of Microsoft Photo Viewer instead of the Edge icon.
