Issues with shared mailbox

Hello Microsoft Community,

I am a new Office 365 Admin, and I am having some issues adding a new shared mailbox to my group.

I previously added a shared mailbox, worked out of the box, no problems. Then I added another one, it doesn't show up in Outlook automatically, I added in manually, not a big issue. On the Android app I get the following error "Authentication failed" ... "You may not have the right permissions to add this mailbox or this mailbox doesn't exist". I have the permissions, and this mailbox exist for sure.

I tried to see what would happen if I sent a mail from Outlook from windows directly from the mailbox itself. I get the following error

So yeah, I don't know what to do or try from here.

    I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook, and I’m happy to help you today.

    When you created the shared mailbox, did you assign accounts to have access to it (and give send permissions as needed)?

    That should be all you need to do - then within 2 hours it would show up in Outlook desktop automatically and could be opened as a shared mailbox on devices or in Outlook on the web. (Outlook on the web should be able to open it as a shared mailbox within minutes, only Outlook desktop needs more time.)

    Did you add it as a shared mailbox in Outlook desktop's Account settings > double click on account then More Settings > Advanced?

    Because it is not working correctly at all, I would delete it from the admin portal (and also the devices where you added it manually) and recreate it.

    Give it two hours to show up in Outlook desktop - you can try forcing it by going to the send / receive tab - under send / receive groups, download offline address book then restart Outlook.
