xpath_string function

Returns the contents of the first XML node that matches the XPath expression.

Syntax

xpath_string(xml, xpath)

Arguments

• xml: A STRING expression of XML.
• xpath: A STRING expression that is a well formed XPath.

Returns

The result is STRING.

The function raises an error if xml or xpath are malformed.

Examples

> SELECT xpath_string('<a><b>b</b><c>cc</c></a>','a/c');
 cc
