Configuration rules (form)

Click Inventory management > Common > Bills of materials. Click Configuration rules

Use this form to define rules for selecting configurations that determine correlations between individual configuration groups and item numbers in a bill of materials (BOM).

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab	Description
Overview tab	If you open this form from: Bills of materials form The form will show all BOM lines attached to the BOM version. In this case, you specify the whole relation between different items with different configuration groups. The following example specifies how the items from the two configuration groups must go together: Configuration group Item number Method Derived group Derived item number Cartridges Blue cartridge Select Barrels Blue barrel Cartridges Red cartridge Select Barrels Red barrel Cartridges Black cartridge Select Barrels Black barrel Lines form The form is opened from a specific line with a specific configuration group attached to it. In this case, you only specify the configuration selections that can be made relative to this line. For example, when you open the Configuration rules form from the BOM line for Blue cartridge, you specify only the configurations that are enabled with Blue cartridge. To create a rule that configures Blue cartridge with Blue barrel, you have to select the derived group Barrels and select Blue barrel.
General tab	View information about the selected configuration rule.

Fields

Field	Description
Configuration group	Find the rules that are activated for a specific item number and configuration group. The field is related to the content of the Item number field.
Item number	Find the rules that are activated for a specific item number and configuration group. The field is related to the contents of the Configuration group field.
Method	The following methods are available: Deselect – The derived configuration group, item number, and configuration cannot be selected if the combination specified in the Configuration group and Item number fields is selected when you set the configuration. Select – The derived configuration group, item number, and configuration will automatically be selected if the combination specified in the Configuration group and Item number fields is selected when you set the configuration.
Derived group	The configuration group to be selected or cleared, depending on the method selected in the Method field. The field content is related to the content of the Derived item number and Derived configuration fields.
Derived item number	The item number to be selected or cleared, depending on the method selected in the Method field. The field content is related to the content of the Derived group and Derived configuration fields.
Derived configuration	The configuration to be selected or cleared, depending on the method selected in the Method field. The field content is related to the content in the Derived group and Derived item number fields.
BOM	The number of the bill of materials that the rules pertain to.
