Du bruger typisk globale grupperede indstillinger til at angive felter, så forskellige felter kan dele det samme sæt indstillinger, som vedligeholdes på ét sted. Du kan genbruge globale grupperede indstillinger. De bruges også i anmodningsparametre på en måde, der ligner en optælling.
Når du definerer en værdi vha. OptionMetadata, anbefales det, at du lader systemet tildele en værdi. Det gør du ved at overføre en null-værdi, når du opretter den nye OptionMetadata-forekomst. Når du definerer en indstilling, indeholder den et præfiks for indstillingsværdien, der er specifik for indholdet i den udgiver, der er angivet for den løsning, som den grupperede indstilling er oprettet i. Dette præfiks hjælper med at reducere risikoen for oprettelse af duplikerede grupperede indstillinger for en administreret løsning, og i de grupperede indstillinger, der er defineret i organisationer, hvor den administrerede løsning er installeret.
