communication between viewmodels with multiple instances

Question

I'learning mvvm and using the mvvm community toolkit. i tried to communicate between viewmodels using weakreferencemessenger but all tutorials I found work with one instance of each but I have a custom usercontrol that I'm using multiple times.

how I can send a message to just one of them?
