Microsoft 365 Initials changed

Hello everyone,
I have observed the following issue with two of my customers (Microsoft 365 Business Standard) in the past two weeks:

The initials of users in Microsoft Teams have changed one after another. Previously, the initials consisted of the first letter of the first name and the first letter of the last name.

For one customer, the initials now suddenly consist of the first letter of the first name and the first letter of the company name.
For the other customer, the initials only consist of the first letter of the company name.

In Outlook, the initials for the first customer are still correct. However, for the second customer, the initials have also changed in Outlook.

Have there been any changes in Microsoft 365 regarding initials?
How can I revert the initials back to their original format?
