Check for understanding with Forms in Teams

Completed

Assessing learner knowledge is something educators want to do regularly, but these quick knowledge checks can sometimes lead to overwhelming stacks of paper. Using Microsoft Forms in a class team eliminates the need for paper entirely and helps make feedback more timely and integrated into learning.

Add a quiz as an assignment

With embedded forms, educators can create quizzes and add them directly to a Teams assignment. Any quiz created in Microsoft Forms is available in Teams. Within the Classwork or Assignments tab in Teams, educators can create a new assignment and select the New quiz option to view all the quizzes previously created in Microsoft Forms. Educators can also create and edit new quizzes without having to open Microsoft Forms separately.

Additional options for quizzes

When they’re assigning the quiz, educators can personalize the assignment and choose whether to assign it to a whole class or to specific learners. Educators can also set a time duration for the quiz. Learners can then access those quizzes as assignments in Teams and complete them without ever leaving Teams.

Grade quizzes

Grading quizzes is easy, too! Forms auto-grades multiple-choice and short answer questions. For manual grading, educators can grade quizzes directly in the Classwork app, the Assignments app, or in Forms. The embedded Forms quiz helps educators and learners efficiently monitor understanding.

Create a short entrance or exit ticket to gauge understanding, assign practice quizzes for learners, or post a reading check or review quiz. Microsoft Forms also includes math features so math and science educators aren’t left out. Math educators can create a quiz as homework or select specific problems from the previous night's homework and have learners enter their answers for those problems. Whatever the subject, Microsoft Forms in Teams streamlines formative assessment.

Other uses for Microsoft Forms in Teams

There are many uses for Microsoft Forms in Teams. Add a Forms tab to a channel in Teams to:

  • Create a new form that everyone on the team can edit
  • Add an existing survey to collect feedback from Team members
  • Show the results of a Form

With Microsoft Forms quick poll, educators can create instant, real-time polls in seconds. Start a conversation in the Chats app with @Forms and type the question. Team members can respond to the poll and receive results in real time.
