    Hi @RAIMUNDAS SIMONIS

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, this issue is likely caused by Windows not fully completing device setup and driver registration. When an accessory shows as “device not recognized”, it usually means Windows cannot load or install the correct driver, or the USB controller is being interrupted by power‑saving or corrupted system settings.

At the same time, if your ASUS laptop asks for a Microsoft account at startup, it indicates the device is already linked to a Microsoft account or Windows setup must be completed after an update or reset. When this sign‑in process is pending or disrupted, Windows may fail to properly register new hardware connected to the system

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Hard Reset
    • Remove the power cord and unplug your new accessory (and any other USBs).
    • Turn the laptop completely off.
    • Press and hold the Power Button for 40 full seconds.
    • Note: The laptop might turn on and then off again during this—keep holding until the time is up.
    • Plug the power cord back in, then plug in your new accessory.
    • Start the laptop normally.

If you are still stuck at the Login Screen:

    • On the login screen, look at the bottom right corner.
    • Click the Accessibility/Ease of Access icon (it looks like a person or a broken circle).
    • Toggle on On-Screen Keyboard.
    • Use your mouse to click your password in.
    1. Reinstall USB drivers
    • Right‑click Start > Device Manager
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
    • Look for Unknown USB Device or any entry with a warning icon
    • Right‑click it > Uninstall device
    • Restart the laptop

    About the Microsoft account sign‑in

If your ASUS laptop asks for a Microsoft login when it turns on, it indicates that:

    • The device is already linked to a Microsoft account, or
    • Windows setup needs to be completed after an update or reset

You can verify this under Settings > Accounts > Your info.

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

If your new accessory is not being recognized by your Asus laptop, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the accessory is properly connected to the laptop. If it's a USB device, try a different USB port.
    2. Update Drivers: Make sure that your device drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding the accessory under the appropriate category, right-clicking it, and selecting "Update driver."
    3. Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, installing the latest Windows updates can resolve compatibility issues with new devices.
    4. Device Management: If the accessory requires specific software or drivers, ensure that they are installed. Sometimes, devices need additional software to function correctly.
    5. Troubleshoot: Use the Windows troubleshooter for hardware and devices. You can access this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Hardware and Devices.
    6. Firmware Issues: If the device is still not recognized, it may be due to firmware issues. Ensure that your laptop's firmware is up to date.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to consult the manufacturer's support for further assistance.
