On checking my Mastercard account I found that I have been charged for Microsoft 365 Personal

¥21,300 on 26 January 2026

¥14,900 on 26 January 2025

¥13,545 on 26 January 2024

I have not authorised these payments and I use Apple iMac for which I bought and paid for Microsoft Office.

Can you please tell me why these amounts totaling ¥47,745 have been debited and please credit my Mastercard.

    Hi, Bill Jarvis

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I appreciate your question. These charges are usually caused by a Microsoft 365 subscription that renewed automatically using a saved card, or by a purchase made on a different Microsoft account that has your card stored.

Here's what you can do in this situation:

Identify exactly what the charge is linked to

Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments and use the “Investigate” option for the date/amount. This is the quickest way to match the bank charge to an order, subscription, or account.

Check Order history for each Microsoft account you may have

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and review January 2024, January 2025, and January 2026. This works because the refund status and charge details are tied to the purchasing account.

If you find a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, stop further renewals immediately

Open Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription and cancel, or at minimum turn off recurring billing. This prevents another automatic debit.

Request the refund through the official subscription refund flow

Use How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription. This route checks eligibility and ties the refund to the original payment method.

If you cannot find the charge under any Microsoft account, treat it as unauthorized card use

Contact your card issuer to dispute the transactions and ask them to block further debits and reissue the card if needed. This works because banks can investigate fraud even when the merchant account is not identifiable to you.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.

If you have been charged for Microsoft 365 Personal without authorization, there are a few common reasons this might happen:

    1. Subscription Activation: If someone else has access to your payment information, they might have activated a subscription using your card.
    2. Billing Frequency Changes: If you or someone else associated with your account changed the billing frequency, it could lead to unexpected charges.
    3. Multiple Accounts: Sometimes, users may have multiple accounts and may not realize that they are being charged for a subscription on a different account.

To resolve this issue, you should contact Microsoft support directly to investigate the charges and request a refund. They have the necessary tools to review your billing profile and assist you further. You can reach out to them through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or the support links provided in the context.
