Cannot Stand Default Browser.

Question

Please help me never use Microsoft's default browser ever again. Need help when I open the Google Chrome on my surface pro it always uses Microsoft's terrible search engine.

Hi, Chrome should have Google search as the default.

However, if you search from the Taskbar, it should direct to Bing - for which there is no workaround.

If Chrome redirects to Bing, please run Malwarebytes and let me know.

To stop using Microsoft’s browser and search engine, two things are needed:

1. Set Google Chrome as the default browser in Windows.
2. Change Chrome’s default search engine to Google (inside Chrome).

From the provided context, only the first part (changing the default browser in Windows) is covered. Use these steps on Windows 11 or Windows 10:

1. Open Settings on the Surface Pro.
2. Select Apps > Default apps.
3. Under Set defaults for applications, scroll and select Google Chrome.
4. For each web-related file type or link type (such as .htm, .html, HTTP, HTTPS), select it and choose Google Chrome as the default.
