Azure VM Instance Error

Hello MS Team,

We were initially able to view our Azure VM instances; however, after two days, we started encountering the error (screenshot attached) and are currently unable to see the VM.

Please find the attached reference for more details. We kindly request your support with this issue.

Error- "Please provide below info when asking for support: timestamp = 2026-04-07XXX, correlationId = XXXXX. Try refreshing the page. Your resources aren't affected by the issue, we're just having trouble showing this view right now. To see a list of resources, select Simplified View. "

In addition to the above himanshu response, we would like to highlight that this behavior is commonly observed when the Azure Portal encounters intermittent issues while fetching resource metadata from backend services. This does not impact the actual state or availability of the Virtual Machines.

Also, since the issue started after a couple of days without any configuration changes, it further indicates that this is likely a transient platform/UI issue rather than a misconfiguration on the subscription or resource level.

To further validate:

• If the VMs are accessible via Azure CLI / PowerShell
• Or visible under “All Resources”

then it confirms that the issue is isolated to the portal view rendering layer only.

This error indicates a temporary Azure portal UI rendering issue, not a problem with the virtual machine or the subscription. As confirmed by Microsoft, your resources are not affected the portal is currently unable to render the VM list view correctly due to a frontend/session issue

• Switch to Simplified View, which bypasses advanced portal filtering and rendering.
• Access the VM via All resources, global search, or Azure CLI/PowerShell, which confirms the resource still exists and is healthy.
• If the issue persists, open a support request and provide the timestamp and correlation ID shown in the error so the portal team can investigate

The error message indicates a portal-side issue rendering the Virtual machines view, not a problem with the VM resources themselves. Use the correlationId and timestamp shown in the banner when opening a support request so the issue can be investigated.

To proceed:

1. Use the link in the banner to switch to Simplified View so a list of VMs can still be seen and managed.
2. Collect the correlationId and exact timestamp from the error banner.
3. In the Azure portal, open a support request and include:
   • The correlationId and timestamp from the error.
   • A copy of the full error text from the banner.
4. If the problem is related to a deployment or provisioning failure (for example, if VMs were being created or updated when this started), also capture any deployment error messages and correlation IDs from the Activity log for the affected resource and attach them to the support request.

This information allows the support team to trace the failing backend operation and fix the portal view issue while confirming that the underlying VMs remain healthy.
