Redeemed second product key on wrong computer

I purchased two copies of MS Office Home 2024 for Mac via Amazon. Yesterday I redeemed one key on my computer; all went well. This morning, I inadvertently redeemed the second key on the same computer, when I actually had intended to install it on my wife's computer. How do I remedy this?

Hello Michael Wilser

Was the answer provided by AI able to help you solve this issue?

If not, then I would like to suggest an additional solution:

Because the second key was redeemed to the wrong Microsoft account and you specifically need it associated with your wife’s Microsoft account instead, that usually cannot be fixed from the device itself.

In that case, contact Microsoft Support and ask for further assistance about this issue. You can start here:

Each Office Home 2024 product key can be redeemed only once and then is permanently tied to the Microsoft account used at redemption, not to a specific computer.

Since the second key was redeemed on the same Microsoft account, it is now associated with that account. To use it on the intended (wife’s) Mac, install and activate from that same account on her computer:

    1. On the wife’s Mac, open a browser and go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to redeem both Office Home 2024 keys.
    3. Under Services & subscriptions, locate the second Office Home 2024 entry.
    4. Select Install next to that Office Home 2024 and download/install Office on her Mac.
    5. After installation, open an Office app (for example, Word) and, if prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account to activate.

There is no need to redeem the product key again or move it between computers; the key’s job is done once it is redeemed to the Microsoft account.

If the wrong Microsoft account was used when redeeming, check other Microsoft accounts owned and sign in to each at the Services & subscriptions page until the Office Home 2024 license is found.
