A bill of materials is a list of parts, items, assemblies and other materials that are required to create a product. Often, it might include instructions that are required to gather and use the required materials for supply chain processes.

This module provided an overview of the bill of materials (BOM) role as one of production's main building blocks. Because BOMs are used in production to specify ingredients or subordinate components that are physically required to make each assembled part number or item in production, they are important to the functioning of the production life cycle and processes.

Additionally, this module showed you how to create a bill of materials by using the BOM designer in Supply Chain Management.
