Set up an item tracking code for the warehouse

For locations that are not set up with directed put-away and pick, you need to enter item tracking information on orders, such as purchase orders and sales orders.

In locations with directed put-away and pick enabled, warehouse employees should be able to use item tracking information in the warehouse. For example, the same item with two different serial numbers should be put away in two different bins. Alternatively, the warehouse employee might be instructed to pick a specific lot in the warehouse.

This task can be achieved by using item tracking codes for which warehouse tracking is enabled.

To set up an item tracking code for tracking serial numbers in the warehouse, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter item tracking codes, and then select the related link.

  2. Select New.

  3. Enter a code and a description.

  4. On the Serial No. FastTab, select the SN Specific Tracking field.

  5. Select the SN Warehouse Tracking field.

  6. Close the item tracking code card.

To set up an item tracking code to track lot numbers in the warehouse, you can enable the Lot Warehouse Tracking field on the Lot No. FastTab.
