According to my research, in Outlook’s Compact View or Single View, when you click “Reply” or “Reply All” in the message preview, your draft opens in the reading pane. The Discard button appears in this context, allowing you to discard the draft if you change your mind.
To enable the discard button, please check the following settings:
- Make sure the reading pane is enabled: On the View tab, in the Layout group, select Reading Pane, and then select Right or Bottom.
- Make sure this option is not selected: Go to File > Options > Mail > Open replies and forwards in a new window.
