Hi

I have a query on microsoft forms/ surveys. The tag didn't allow me to select forms or survey.

In the likert scale i want to be able to fill in the statement 1 option and it shouldn't be pre-defined. For my purpose the statements change with every project hence i want to launch it as blank so people can fill the codes for which they are answering

Statement Header 2
Open end 1 likert scale 1 to 5
Open end 2 likert scale 1 to 5

Hi Mehta, Kanchan

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum and for describing your use case so clearly.

I’ve tried setting up a similar survey in Microsoft Forms and also looked into available documentation to see if what you’re aiming for is possible. Unfortunately, in the article Question types available | Microsoft Learn, there is no mention of whether the Likert scale in Forms supports open input for statements. Based on my experience, I can conclude that currently each statement must be created beforehand by the form creator, and participants can only choose from a fixed scale.

Given the current limitations, I’ve tried to come up with a workaround that might align with your needs:
You could use Text-type questions for each statement, allowing respondents to enter their own codes or identifiers. Then, below those, you can add a Likert scale section for them to rate each one. undefined

This won’t be as seamless as your original idea, and it may make the form longer if you have many statements, but it could help approximate the functionality you’re looking for, and I’m really sorry I couldn’t find a more direct solution.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions!
