Hi, My team and I are still exploring the many options the Planner provides and brings to our organizational piece for managing caseloads. I am asking if Microsoft will add this feature back and when. We use this function frequently, and it is a productive component of our case management.

    Rhoda,

Your explanation above does not correspond to what I am experiencing as a user. My plan is part of a group and the Copy Plan function is not available. Please advise why this is the case.

It is immensely frustrating that this functionality was removed. I have a Template plan with dozens of tasks and buckets that is copied in order to start a new project. Losing this functionality now means that we now have to input all the tasks and buckets manually each time, taking valuable time away from my team. It will make the software unusable to my organization and we may seek alternatives to Planner instead.

Your system has also blocked me from commenting on the above feedback sites that you linked, so I cannot vote for this as a feature request as you mentioned.

Myself, among many other users based on review of other comment threads, insist that this functionality is restored ASAP. Your timely response is appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dear BW_DC,

    Thanks for posting back.

We do understand your pain about the change in Planner, considering that I have checked the service health dashboard at the Microsoft end, where there is no related incident found or ETA for the feature, the best way to troubleshoot the issue is to report the issue to the related Team. We’d suggest you contact your office 365 administrator to go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request, the support engineers there have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket. Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help. The engineers in related team have higher permission and resources than us to help check the root cause from background directly.

    Regards,

    Rhoda,

My IT department has evaluated this matter and is experiencing the same issues with the missing Copy Plan, even with the highest of administrative permissions. It appears this feature was removed entirely.

When will the Copy Plan feature be reinstated? I am unable to make a request on the feedback site to bring back this feature since I am "blocked" for some reason as mentioned previously... If you could please escalate this ASAP on my behalf it would be greatly appreciated. We have critical work that needs to get done and the removal of this feature is significantly holding up our efforts.

If there is no plan to reinstate the Copy Plan feature please let me know ASAP so that we can look at other platforms which will continue to suit our needs.

    Regards,

    BW_DC

    Dear BW_DC,

Thank you for the reply. We're sorry to hear that the issue occurs with the plans connected to the group in your tenant.

Since the issue cannot be reproduced on our side, however, it occurs with different users in your tenant, I believe there should be an issue with the tenant backend service that the problem should be further investigated by the related development team, where they can collect the related HAR logs while reproducing the problem and perform further investigation.

I have also checked the service health dashboard at the Microsoft end, where there is no related incident found.

So, I request you to connect with the IT admin of your organization (How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support) and raise a new service request from the Microsoft 365 admin center so that the related development team will connect with you and investigate the issue further.

We apologize for redirecting you to related development support team because the moderators in this community are limited with the resource for further investigation and to get a quick resolution to your problem, we requested it.

Regarding your concern about accessing the feedback site with your account, we understand the inconvenience caused. Forum support in this community may have limited permissions and resources for account issues on the feedback site. We recommend using another account, such as a personal Microsoft account, as a workaround.

    Dear Fridaleen,

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. We're delighted to happy.

We've conducted a quick test, and we found that copy plan function is available for basic plans added to group and premium plans. However, it is missing from basic plans that are not added to a group.

For your reference: The new Microsoft Planner for the web is available in Targeted release! | Microsoft Community Hub

In this situation, if you are having concern with Basic plans not connected to a group that can be reproduced on our side, considering that the Product Team is continuously working on updates and improvements for Planner, and they frequently check customer comments and feedback, we highly recommend sharing your valuable feedback using the feedback button within PlannerImage or in the Planner Feedback Community. Please also vote for similar feature requests on the feedback site, such as:

Many features have been developed or improved based on user feedback. Your feedback and vote will increase the awareness coming from the related team. This is the quickest route to get your feedback to the developers’ ears.

If you are experiencing this issue with Basic plans added to a group or Premium plans, we recommend contacting your admin to check if the tenant is a target released tenant to see the new change. For admin reference: Set up the Standard or Targeted release options - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

If so, please switch to a different browser with InPrivate mode and test with different networks to check the outcome. If the issue persists, it might be related to a background service that needs to be checked from the backend. More resources may need to be involved to help further.

In this situation, we sincerely recommend contacting your Microsoft 365 administrator and following the steps in this article to create a support ticket with Online Support. The support team has higher permissions than we do and can remotely help check the situation on your side, involve more resources to collect logs, and help you troubleshoot. This would be a more efficient way to handle this case for you.

For reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

If the understanding above is not consistent with yours, please feel free to post back and point that.

Sorry for the inconvenience again. Your patience and understanding are highly appreciated. Hope you stay safe and healthy.

    Sincerely,

    Rhoda | Microsoft Community Moderator
