Do you have an access to a US Layout keyboard?

Please try if this will work, in the Windows Recovery Environment, the only built‑in way to toggle layouts is to press and hold the Windows key and then tap Spacebar; you should see a brief “ENG / ARA” popup if multiple layouts exist. More info here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/4156607/how-to-change-keyboard-layout-in-windows-recovery

If that does not work, the other option is using a US layout USB keyboard.

Another thing you can try is if you have a Windows 11 install USB, you can also launch a Command Prompt (Repair > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt) and use the BitLocker Repair Tool: repair-bde C: Z: -rp YOUR‑48‑DIGIT‑KEY

where Z: is a USB or spare drive.

Do you have a spare U.S. keyboard you can try?

Thanks for the info. Let's try these steps instead:

    1. Switch to English Keyboard. On the recovery screen, there should be a "keyboard" or "language" icon on the lower right corner. Click that and select ENG. If it does not appear, you will have to plug in a USB keyboard configured for US layout. If you do not have the USB keyboard option, see number 3.
    2. Then enter the 48 digit key again, using a US keyboard.
    3. If you can’t switch layouts, boot from a Windows 11 USB installer, choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt, then run: repair-bde C: Z: -RecoveryPassword YOUR‑48‑DIGIT‑KEY (where Z: is an empty USB or secondary drive). That will decrypt your system volume so you can copy files off it. Learn more here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/repair-bde

If you’ve already tried swapping in a U.S. keyboard or toggling the layout and still get an “invalid key” message, do you have access to another PC where you can paste the key into Notepad? Are there any error codes?

Let's check a few more things, are you using a non‑US keyboard or a different input language at the recovery screen? Sometimes certain digits or dashes don’t register correctly. Make sure you’re entering all 48 digits continuously, no spaces, no extra characters, just the numbers.

On some systems with multiple drives or partitions, the recovery prompt might be targeting a different volume. Make sure you have selected the correct drive.

Can you tell me if any error appears as soon as you hit enter? What version of WIndows are you using?

Hi, I'm Stara. Can you please double check that the Recovery ID shown on the blue unlock screen matches the GUID of the key you saved? If they do not match, it may be the wrong key.

Please try to locate your key again https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/find-your-bitlocker-recovery-key-6b71ad27-0b89-ea08-f143-056f5ab347d6

Let me know if these steps worked.
