Hi eliza
Thank you for reaching out via the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how stressful it must be to lose progress on your presentation, especially after making significant edits. While I truly hope the file can be recovered, I want to gently encourage you to prepare for the possibility that the data may not be retrievable. However, there are still a few steps you can try:
- You mentioned checking version history so please also check it via PowerPoint Online (through OneDrive or SharePoint), as it may show different versions than the desktop app.
- Since you were using a Mac, PowerPoint may have saved a temporary version of your file. You can check for AutoRecover files by following these steps:
- Open Finder.
- Press Cmd + Shift + G to open "Go to Folder".
- Paste this path:
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery - Look for files named like
AutoRecovery save of [Your File Name].pptx.
Please check this folder on the device where you made the edits, as the AutoRecover file is stored locally.
I’m truly sorry this happened, and I hope one of these steps helps you recover your work. If not, I hope you can find the strength to move forward despite the setback. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further help.
