Hello Felix Abbott
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A and informing us about the issue. From your description, I believed that this could be due to corrupted profile, in order to troubleshoot this, please follow:
- Create a new user profile:
- Open Windows settings > Accounts > Family & Other user > Add someone else to this PC > Follow the prompt to create a new account
- One the new create account, click Change account type to Administrator > Restart your PC and login with the new account
- Open File Explorer then go to C:\Users\ and you should see 2 folder that have your old username and the new one, then you can copy the files/data from your old username to the new one
- Check for temporary file:
- You can also delete the temporary user profile to prevent this issue
- Go to C:\Users\ > Look for any folder named TEMP or user.TEMP then delete it
