Microsoft 365 Copilot app launch error

Hello,

I get the attached error when launching the Microsoft 365 Copilot app from my start menu. Once in a while, it flashes another message extremely briefly. Since that message very quickly disappears, I could not get a screenshot that I can attach here, but it says "This page isn't working right now. If the problem persists, contact the site owner. HTTP error 401." I opened a support ticket and spent a long time with them, but they were not able to solve it. Then I reinstalled Windows from the cloud and redid my computer. I am getting the same error. I do have a paid Copilot license. Copilot seems to work fine with the apps like Word and Excel, but the Microsoft 365 Copilot app from the start menu does not launch. Error 401 seems to be related to authentication, but Copilot within Word and Excel works, so they seem to pick up the fact that I have a paid license. The support team made me do a lot of things like reset and repair the app, etc., but it is not working. Has anybody experienced this problem before? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The HTTP error 401 typically indicates an authentication issue, which can occur even if you have a valid license for Microsoft 365 Copilot. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check License Assignment: Ensure that your Microsoft 365 account is correctly assigned a license that supports Microsoft 365 Copilot. Sometimes, even with a paid license, there might be issues with the assignment.
    2. Account Conflicts: If you are signed in with multiple accounts (personal and work/school), this could lead to conflicts. Try signing out of all accounts and then signing back in with the account that has the Copilot license.
    3. Internet Connectivity: Verify that your internet connection is stable and meets the necessary requirements for Copilot to function correctly. Any connectivity issues might prevent proper authentication.
    4. Privacy Settings: Check if Copilot is blocked by your organization's privacy settings. Sometimes, organizational policies can restrict access to certain features.
    5. Update Channels: Ensure that your organization is using the Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel for updates, as Copilot may not function correctly on the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
    6. Reinstallation: Since you've already reinstalled Windows, ensure that you also reinstall the Microsoft 365 apps properly, as any corruption in the installation might lead to issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your Microsoft 365 administrator for further assistance, as they may have access to more detailed logs and settings that could help diagnose the problem.
