Microsoft does not provide exact timelines for fixes until they are confirmed and tested.

Updates will be announced through the Windows Release Health dashboard and Microsoft support site.

Make sure your device is fully updated as interim patches may be available through this.

In the meantime, instead of depending upon Windows scanner driver check and try the latest compatible driver from the manufacturer of the scanner.

Hello mark c, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out. To understand what’s happening, could you share a bit more detail?

    • Which scanner model are you using?
    • What exactly happens — is the scanner not detected, or does the scanning app fail to start/scan?
    • Which device model do you have — is it a Surface with ARM(Snapdragon) processor?

I’ll wait for your reply with the requested details so we can continue.

There is no specific announcement from Microsoft regarding a fix for scanners not working. However, there are several known issues and workarounds related to scanning devices that have been documented. For example, if applications are unable to find a new scanning device after another device is disconnected, there are workarounds such as uninstalling and reconnecting the scanner or restarting the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service. Additionally, issues with scanning devices connected via USB have also been addressed with specific resolutions.

For more detailed information on these issues and their resolutions, you can refer to the relevant Microsoft support articles.
