Hi joshua hauser,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand how frustrating this can be when trying to help your child sign in and the parental control process keeps looping.
This behavior usually happens when the child account is not fully approved, the parent consent has not completed correctly, or the sign‑in is happening in the wrong order. It does not mean the account is broken.
Please try the following steps:
- Sign in to the parent (family organizer) account first Using a web browser, sign in to the parent account at: https://family.microsoft.com
Make sure there are no pending requests, consent prompts, or terms that still need to be approved for the child account.
2. Sign the child in separately after approval Once the parent account is fully signed in and confirmed, sign out completely, then sign in again using the child’s account only. Avoid switching accounts during the same sign‑in session, as this can trigger the loop.
3. Use a browser or private window Try signing in using a different browser or a private/incognito window to prevent cached sign‑in data from repeating the loop.
4. Check the child’s age and permissions If the child’s age was recently changed or the account was newly created, the system may need the permissions to be refreshed through Microsoft Family Safety.
If the parental control loop continues after following the steps above, this will require Microsoft Support to review the Family Safety configuration on the account. For security reasons, this cannot be fixed in public forums.
You can contact Microsoft Support here> Briefly describe your issue > Enter Scroll down and select "Contact Support" to connect with a live agent via chat or phone.
