I am trying to use excel through a remote desktop using my work account. I am getting a notification of an unlicensed product. Additionally, the following pops up after I enter my credentials.

I am, ultimately, trying to export a report out of my ERP (accessed through a citrix workspace) to excel. The report will generate into excel format; however, I am unable to edit. I get the following messages at the top:

I am able to use all of my Microsoft features on my desktop. I only experience this issue when trying to export reports out.

    Dear @Paul Occhetti,

Good day. Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I am happy to help you!

As per your description, if you're having problems getting shared computer activation to work when you deploy Microsoft 365 Apps to shared computers in your organization, try the following to fix the problem.

1.If you know the file is from a trustworthy source, and you want to edit, save, or print the file, you can exit Protected View. After you leave Protected View, you've effectively remove read only, and the file becomes a trusted document.

For reference, please refer to: What is Protected View?

2.Unlicensed product: Most features are turned off because a shared computer license isn't available.

This error means that a licensing token wasn't obtained from the Office Licensing Service on the internet. Office is now in reduced functionality mode. The user can view and print Office documents but can't create or edit documents.

You can try these steps to fix this problem:

    • Check your account is assigned a license for Microsoft 365 Apps.
    • Check your account signs in with the user account for Office 365 if the Activate Office dialog box appears when the user opens an Office program.
    • Check that there's connectivity between the shared computer and the internet.

For reference: Troubleshoot issues with shared computer activation for Microsoft 365 Apps

3.Uninstall and reinstall Office: Kindly uninstall Office completely, then reinstall it and check whether the issue is resolved. Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office from a PC

Additionally, you can try unregistering/registering C:\Windows\system32\StorageUsage.dll manually using regasm.exe. Please follow this guide for more details on registering assemblies. Registering Assemblies with COM

Note: Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope this helps! Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!

    Looking forward to your response!
