Welcome JohnBoy,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how frustrating it can be when the internal Realtek microphone on your Lenovo laptop is no longer recognized or only shows as disabled, and you cannot find an option to enable or start it even after restarting Windows.

So, I can help you faster, could you please confirm the following information:

  • Which exact Windows version and build are you currently running (for example, Windows 10 Home 22H2)?
  • Does the internal microphone appear at all in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs, or is it completely missing?

In the meantime, you can try the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Reinstall the Internal Microphone via Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager from the Start menu > expand Audio inputs and outputs
  • If Internal Microphone or Microphone Array is listed, right-click it and select Enable device
  • If it is already enabled, right-click and choose Uninstall device, then restart the PC

Option 2: Check Sound input settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound
  • Under Input, select the correct microphone if available
  • Click Device properties and make sure Disable is not selected

Option 3: Verify microphone privacy permissions

  • Go to Settings > Privacy and security, then Microphone
  • Turn on Microphone access
  • Turn on Let apps access your microphone

Option 4: Update or reinstall the Realtek audio driver

  • Open Device Manager from the Start menu > expand Sound, video and game controllers
  • Right-click Realtek Audio and select Update driver
  • If no update is found, select Uninstall device and restart Windows

I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.
