Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Jim Druding
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand that you’ve already changed your Gmail password and are now trying to get Outlook (classic) to sync correctly again.
Have you tried all the Q&A Assist suggestions? If Outlook still doesn’t sync after completing all those suggestions, here are a few additional checks you can try:
1, Remove cached Gmail credentials from Windows
Sometimes Outlook continues to use cached credentials even after the password has been changed.
- Close Outlook completely.
- Open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
- Look for any entries related to Google, Gmail, or Outlook.
- Remove those entries, then reopen Outlook and allow it to re‑authenticate.
2, Repair the Gmail account connection in Outlook
Forcing a repair can refresh the connection token.
- Open Outlook > File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Select your Gmail account and choose Repair.
- Follow the prompts and sign in again when requested.
3, Confirm Gmail IMAP access is still enabled
- Sign in to Gmail on the web.
- Go to Settings > See all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Make sure IMAP is enabled, then save the changes.
4, Check Google account security activity
Google may temporarily block Outlook after a password change.
- Review recent security alerts in your Google account.
- If you see a blocked sign‑in or new device alert, confirm it was you and allow access.
I truly hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know how it goes and thanks for your understanding.
