Microsoft Edger no longer opens

My personal computer is set for automatic updates, and this past weekend Microsoft Edge automatically updated to the latest stable version of Microsoft Edge for Windows, macOS, and Linux, 147.0.3912.98, but now Microsoft Edge won't open up at all. It starts to launch, as a white screen appears for several seconds and then disappears and the icon is back to normal and though not been clicked. Same when going from the Start menu or any other way I tried to launch the program. What happened? Anybody else experience this problem and know how to fix the problem so that I can open/use Microsoft Edge again?

The described behavior matches Microsoft Edge crashing on startup after an update. Use the following steps to troubleshoot and repair it:

1. Close other tabs, extensions, and apps
   Edge may be failing due to low memory or a problematic extension.
   • Make sure all Edge windows are closed.
   • Close other running apps and pause any downloads.
   • When Edge does open briefly, remove unneeded extensions, then try again.
2. Make sure Microsoft Edge is up to date
   If Edge can stay open long enough:
   • Select Settings and more (… ) > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
   • Let it check for and apply any newer update, then restart Edge.
3. Scan the device for malware
   Malicious software can cause browsers to crash.
   • On Windows 10, run a manual scan using Windows Security (see the "Run a scan manually" section of Stay protected with Windows Security).
4. Restart the computer
   • Restart Windows and try launching Edge again from the Start menu.
5. Repair the Edge installation by reinstalling over the top
   If Edge still will not open:
   • Open another working browser.
   • Download the latest Microsoft Edge installer from the official Edge download page.
   • Run the installer to reinstall Edge on top of the existing installation and test if it now starts correctly.

If the problem persists after these steps, repeat the malware scan and reinstall, and verify Windows itself is fully updated before trying Edge again.
