What happened, and what should I do to fix this?

The dialog indicates that Word has encountered an internal error and must close. To fix this, run an Office Online Repair so Word and its components are reinstalled and repaired.

Steps on Windows 11:

1. Open Settings → System → Apps → Installed apps.
2. Find Microsoft Office in the list.
3. Select the three-dot (ellipsis) button next to it and choose Modify.
4. Select Online Repair, then choose Repair and let the process complete.
5. After the repair finishes, restart Word and verify it opens without the error.

4. Click the three dots (...) beside it and select Modify.
